Old World Charm

San Francisco proprietor launches new line based on classic principles.

Entrepreneur Sherri Ziesche took an untraditional approach to beauty. First, she started an online business, www.beautycompanysf.com, then added a traditional brick and mortar spot called Beauty Company and now, she’s rolling out a new personal care line called Ziesche.

The apothecary storefront Beauty Company, which is set in the trendy Russian Hill neighborhood in San Francisco, strives to provide both unique and classic beauty products to the city. From staple lines to luxury international products, the European influence is evident when scanning the shelves … though you'll have no problem finding your American favorites, too, including her bespoke bath and body line.

Ideal for summer, the Ziesche introductory collection consists of three products: hand and body wash, body lotion and bath salts. The scent stories are as following: #001 with notes of lemongrass, vetiver and sage; #002 with notes of lavender, geranium and cedarwood; and #003 with notes of mandarin orange, rosewood and patchouli. A foaming body scrub is also available in the #001 blend. Retailing at $21.95 for the 8.5oz bottles and $32.95 for the 16oz bottles, each product is formulated with a nourishing blend of botanical ingredients.

“My goal was to create a product line that didn't just say ‘no this’, ‘no that’, ‘free of this’ or ‘free of that’ … I wanted a line that was clean, plant based and that performed, meaning it really worked! Otherwise, what's the point?” Ziesche told Happi in an interview.

Inspired by visits to European and Asian spas and historic apothecaries, Ziesche is passionate about launching a line of exceptional bath and body products for not only her San Francisco-based clients but nationwide. With more than 20 years of experience as an aesthetician, she conducted extensive and knowledgeable hands-on research to make certain the line exceeded all expectations.

“As Beauty Company grew, I learned so much about how important pure ingredients are,” Ziesche explained.

Those kinds of ingredients appeal to a wide audience—and the Ziesche line target customers are of all ages.

“The line is family friendly and gender neutral—encompassing all,” she said. “They are people who care about what they are putting on there body and what goes in it.”

Candles and bath salts are currently being added to the collection and will launch in the very near future.

“We plan on having a brick and mortar space here in San Francisco and have started to open up more wholesale accounts with independent retailers around the country that we think would be a good fit and get the vibe,” Ziesche said.

She added, “It's been mind blowing how many people have reached out and want to carry the line! We are a small company and we don't do shows or have reps out on the street so when people started to reach out it was an amazing feeling and let us know that we are doing something right!”
